LARS ULRICH To Rejoin METALLICA On Stage In Germany
June 8, 2004METALLICA drummer Lars Ulrich will "definitely" join the band at their performance in Ludwigshafen, Germany Tuesday night (June 8),according to an online posting by METALLICA's webmaster Niclas Swanlund. "I know you are all worried about Lars," he writes. "The reports I have heard [Tuesday] morning is that things are good, and we will definitely have a show tonight here in Ludwigshafen, Germany."
As previously reported, Ulrich was taken to hospital with an undisclosed illness just hours before METALLICA were due to headline the U.K.'s Download festival Sunday night (June 6). Rather than pull the show and risk a revolt from fans, METALLICA called SLIPKNOT's Joey Jordison, SLAYER's Dave Lombardo and longtime METALLICA drum tech Flemming Larsen to rescue the gig.
In other news, METALLICA fan site The 4 Horsemen is reporting that the U.K.'s BBC Radio 1 "Rock Show" will be broadcasting a Download festival special on June 9 with highlights from the show including METALLICA's set. The station broadcasts online at bbc.co.uk. Fans who attended the festival can also download the show at downloadfestival.co.uk.
